MKA USA Response to the Oklahoma Tragedy

The leaders and membership of Majlis-Khuddamul Ahmadiyya USA, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization, maintain solidarity with the people of Oklahoma and Texas. We too acknowledge the pain of families in Moore and Newcastle Oklahoma as well as all the areas affected. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we are supportive of them in their long journey to recovery. As believing youth, we recognize that there are many questions that come up when loss of life, property and peace of mind occur. In spite of these challenges as brothers, friends and neighbors, we support the devastated communities that are affected. We pray for their recovery and their overcoming of all challenges. We all belong to God, and should He call us back may He give strength to the loved ones we leave behind. As a youth auxiliary pledging service to our nation and countrymen, we are merging with Humanity First in providing volunteers to affected families.

NasirTournement2012Conclusion

Silver Spring, MD- The conclusion of the 2012 Nasir Tournament literally went out with a bang, literally the bang from the rifle used our first ever MKA shooting competition.  This year’s tournament was enhanced with the addition of this competition per the wishes of Hazrat Khalfatul Masih.  As in the past, volleyball and cricket were also prominent in the competition with teams coming from as far as Chicago and Willingboro to take part.

The brotherhood and competition began bright and early and with the preliminary cricket games.  Not even sudden bursts of rain could put a damper on the games.   After some intense competition, the brothers from Chicago took home the title as champions.  Maryland and Virginia will compete for 2nd at a later date as the game was delayed due to rain and thunder.  The volleyball competitions featured similar faces with Willingboro and South Virginia competing in the finals.  After 3 tight rounds, Willingboro took home the gold.

The newly featured shooting competition was conducted using an air soft rifle that projected pellets at a speed of approximately 1000 feet per second.  Prior to the competition brothers were educated in gun safety and proper handling of a firearm.  Each of the 30 or so competitors were given a target and 3 shots that determined their overall score.   Out of a maximum of 30 points, brother Omar Khan of Maryland was the winner with a score of 27.  This marks the beginning of a competition that has the blessings of our beloved Huzur.  May Allah grant MKA USA the opportunity to continue to host such tournaments in the future and continue to enhance both our  physical health and spirituality.
