Respected Bashir Mahmud from Phoenix, AZ was awarded the 2011 Mufti Muhammad Sadiq Lifetime Award. {youtube width="475" height="220"}iHkdQ5KR2A8{/youtube} ![]() Bashir Mahmud Sahib was born on April 23rd, 1944 and became an Ahmadi Muslim in 1967. Bashir sahib’s mother was a staunch Christian, but he was turned away from the fallacies in Christianity at the early age of 13 years old and consequently he kept questioning Christianity. The hypocrisy of church members was also very problematic for him to reconcile. Bashir Sahib was very bothered by the mysterious doctrines. As a young man in Illinois, Bashir sahib started attending meetings for the black power movement (Stokely Carmichael, Huey P Newton, Bobby Seale). It was at that time that he met a few Ahmadi brothers as well - he was specifically impressed by Ali Wazar - who told him, “Brother, you want some power? I’ll teach about the real Islam”. He then went on to tell him amazing narrations of the stories of Islam. This way Bashir Mahmud sahib was introduced to Islam Ahmadiyyat. He was so inspired that he went on to covert over 50 converts within just a few months. This was in Waukeegan, IL which later moved to become the Zion Jamaat. Bashir Mahmud sahib has the distinction of being one of the original members of this jamaat, and has served the jamat in multiple capacities especially in the Ansar and also as Vice President. He currently resides in Phoenix Jamaat and is still active with tabligh and is still an avid golfer and has interested and trained several khuddam and atfal in Pheonix. His advice in tabligh (preaching) is: “Foremost, do it peaceably.” He has travelled to London, Qadian & Rabwah (1994). |
Mohsin Mahmud Sahib, you did many great things in secret and for no credit. But today the world hears about your life.
"Mohsin Mahmood sahib was an African-American Ahmadi who passed away at the age of 84 on 19 October. He took his Bai’at in 1998 and following his Bai’at he had to face many difficult situations which he endured with great resolve. He had served as sadr of NY Jama’at for fifteen years. He was passionate about Tabligh work. He was a man of high moral standards, was regular in his Salat and had a benevolent, loving, charitable nature. He was devoted to Khilafat and afforded great courtesy to missionaries. Each year he planted flowers at Baitul Zafar, NY and cared for them throughout the year. His financial giving was more than his capacity. When in 2005 Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih appealed the Jama’at to join the scheme of Wasiyyat in greater numbers, and Mohsin sahib was approached locally, he asked what the obligations were. When explained that it required giving one tenth of one’s income he remarked that he already gave twenty to twenty five percent of his income. Yet, in obedience of the appeal of the Khalifa of the time, he promptly joined the scheme of Wasiyyat. In spite of being a retired individual, his chanda would be more than many.
May God forgive both the deceased and grant them Paradise and high station. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih asked for prayers for the family of Mohsin sahib and Fazlur Rahman sahib to remain firm in their connection with the Jama’at."

This "day" is a: "celebration of the fulfillment of the prophecy of the Promised Messiah and Mahdi concerning the birth of a son [The Promised Reformer/Musleh Mau'ud]" (Welcome to Ahmadiyyat the True Islam, pg. 599).
Excerpts from Welcome to Ahmadiyyat, the True Islam,3rd Edition - 2010, pgs. 316 - 321
- "One of the prophecies revealed to the Promised Messiah and Mahdi by God Almighty was that He would bestow on him a son who would be a sign of Allah's Mercy, Power, Grace and Beneficence, and through whom the message of Islam and Ahmadiyyat would be carried to the ends of the earth." (pg. 316)
- "This prophecy was fulfilled in the person of Hadrat (his holiness) Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, his eldest son from his second wife, Hadrat (her holiness) Nusrat Jahan, who became the 2nd Khalifah (Successor) on March 14, 1914 at the age of 25. Therefore he was also known as Hadrat Musleh Mau'ud, the Promised Reformer. (pg. 316)
- Hadrat Ahmad (The Promised Messiah and Mahdi) undertook to spend 40 days in a solitary retreat in January 1886... spending all his time in Divine worship and supplication. At the end of this period he was granted the glad tidings of an illustrious son to be born within nine (9) years. (pg. 317)
- He (The Promised Messiah and Mahdi) published a handbill on Feb. 20, 1886 from Hoshiarpur, detailing the revelation from God in the form of a prophecy. It was published in... [the] newspaper dated 1st of March 1886 as a supplement to the newspaper. (pg. 317)
- What happened afterwards was that instead of a son, the first child born after the prophecy was a daughter, Ismat... Ignorant people ridiculed at it.(pg. 316)
- Later a son was born on August 7, 1887 but he died on November 4, 1888... At the death of this son once again the opponents raised a lot of hue and cry. They strongly challenged the truth of this prophecy and reject it all together. (pg. 319)
- According to the original prophecy, by the Grace of Allah, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi was blessed with a son on the 12th of January 1889... Thus, the prophecy was fulfilled most magnificently. (pg. 320)
